Layman Says Benke Is Being Used As Surrogate to Attack Kieschnick |
|
|
I think this whole situation would be humorous if it weren't so sad. Do the people who are attacking President Benke have any grasp of reality? The heart of their argument is that President Benke's actions have done great harm to our Synod. Maybe they should turn on the TV or pick-up a newspaper to see the kind of pummeling the Synod is taking in the media for suspending President Benke. President Benke did not go to this prayer service to join in a worship of a generic deity but to pray with the other Christians assembled to the one true God. I would think that Wallace Schulz being the good Pharisee he is would understand the Synod constitution better which allows for such actions in special circumstances. If the events of Sept. 11 do not represent special circumstances, then I think Rev. Schulz should take a trip to NYC to see the ruins. President Benke is being used as a surrogate to attack President Kieschnik who has infuriated his detractors with his dangerous style of putting the needs of the people of the Synod above the politics of the Synod. While the aim of this letter is not to personally attack Wallace Schulz, sometimes you have to call a spade a spade. While President Benke acted out of love and concern, Rev. Schulz and his supporters have acted out of spite. This self-righteous political attack is complete garbage, and I'm encouraged to see that the vast majority of people support President Benke in your poll. I think Rev. Schulz has forgotten that he works for the members of the synod. We elected him, and hopefully in 2 years we will bounce him out of office. Sincerely Ryan Ott Baltimore, MD
