I am a member of St.Luke Lutheran Church in Dix Hills and find it sorrowful and sad that there are those who have initiated the suspension and have pushed for Dr. Benke's resignation.

I believe we are all brothers and sisters of the Lord.  There are many things in this world that can tear us apart, this should not be one of them.

He was assisting all those affected by the tragedy of 9/11 to look to God for assistance and guidance - That we should help one another.

Our own existence is a  reflection to others of what it means to be a Lutheran.  This decision is not a view I share in wanting of others to think of my faith.  Jesus Christ taught us to love one another to share our spirit with others and not to judge others. We plant seeds and maybe Dr. Benke reach some of the hearts of those who participated. If others prayed with us then God heard us without singling out those who do not share our faith. At that point all believed in our God.  The true God.

I hope the council will reconsider and reinstate him without prejudice.
