You ought to make it known that this poll is NOT a scientific sampling, but more of a "popularity contest".  Apparently at least one district office of the LCMS has been emailing its congregations/pastors/etc encouraging them to vote in favor of Dr. Benke.  Such "stuffing of the ballot box" really makes this an exercise in futility -- all it does is show which side has the better PR machine and can crank out the most responses.

Lutheran Central would like to make it known that all poll votes, and reaction letters are NOT scientific samplings.  We simply count votes that we recieve, and post reactions that meet the standards of Lutheran Central.

The goal of the Lutheran Central poll and response sections were to give LCMS members, as well as members of other synods and denominations a voice on this topic.

Lutheran Central has posted a disclaimer on the poll page explaining that:
"So far this is a relatively small sampling and may or may not be indicative of actual opinion on a wide scale basis."
