My heart has been heavy over the infighting of the ultra conservative group that has brought actions against Dr. Benke over his participation in the joint worship service with other groups in NY.  These "fellow Christians" should try to examine their own actions in view of the MO Synod constitution, By-Laws and Synodical Resolutions.  Thank God for our President Gerald Kieschnick and his support of Dr. Benke.

I urge these "fellow Christians" who brought charges against Dr. Benke to look at the outreach programs he has going in the Atlantic Districts and compare them with their own Districts.  His District is reaching hundreds of thousands of destitute, needy souls in a congested, inner city areas, his leadership is vital.  Do we need to stab such a man in the back?  I think not.

During the convention in St. Louis last year where I was a voting delegate, I was astounded at the narrow minded view, unChristian attitude of many of our members.  To reach the millions of unchurched souls in our nation we must stop our infighting and change our old church bodies to reach out to the multitudes who need His saving grace.

God help us in this matter,

Ms. Jean Gonzlaes
