"Legalistic and pharisaical should not be terms describing the LCMS" |
|
|
It is with sadness and disappointment that we read of Wallace Schultz deciding
to suspend President Benke. There should never have been charges brought
in the first place. This is all twisted and contrary to the way Jesus
conducted his ministry. Some in the Missouri Synod seem to be hung
up in rules and purity and rigidity and have forgotten about carrying out
the great commission. Instead of being supported by his synod for wonderful
pastoral care and support of the people of the New York City area, President
Benke is chastised and suspended. What has happened to the beloved
church into which we were baptized, confirmed, married, and have attended
for 84 and 49 years respectively?! Legalistic and pharisaical should
not be terms describing the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
