A Laywoman Not Afraid To Sign Her Name |

A number of people who do not identify themselves say they are "embarrassed" by VP Dr. Wallace Schulz' decision to suspend the Rev Mr. Benke from his synodical office. In truth, Dr. Schulz could do nothing else. Benke is convicted out of his own mouth and by his breaking of vows made at ordination, and again at installation as a synodical officer, to uphold the Scriptures, the Lutheran Confessions and the constitution of Synod. It does not matter what the general public, (appealed to constantly by Kieschnick and Benke) thinks of the issue. It should never have been in the public eye. This is the concern of Synod's own members, and ~their~ concern should be to be faithful to Scripture and the Confessions. (Or "walk" elsewhere, since they do not wish to walk together here.) After months of listening to misuse of the "by-laws" of Synod (and only the by-laws) to justify Benke, Dr. Schulz is now criticized for insufficient use of Scripture in his decision by the same people who had nothing to say about Scripture then!? No! The decision was carefully written out in words that the people involved could understand. The underlying Scripture is plain to any child with a Small Catechism, and well educated "princes of the church" are at fault here. But one sentence, sufficient Scripture to cover this offense: "I AM the Lord. That is my Name, and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images." Kyrie eleison! Helen E.
