Retired Pastor Says Mission To Make Disciples Is Being Hobbled |
|
|
Praise God for courageous and evangelical leaders like Benke and Kieschnick.
The moderate center of our beloved Synod must speak out and support Pres.
Kieschnick in his courageous move to "call up" VP Schultz' decision if our
Synod is to be a truly evangelical church and not a sectarian cult.
We cannot afford to behave like the Taliban who believe that they are the only true believers and are ready to force their views on the rest of the world. No one is won for Christ by such self-righteous and pride-filled behavior. This is not "standing up for the Gospel." It is destroying the Gospel with undisguised legalism. The public reports of Benke's suspension are leading many lay people and pastors to question whether or not they can be a part of a church body in which our leaders treat each other with such unchristian attacks. Certainly, our mission to "make disciples of all nations" is being hobbled by these events. Retired LCMS Pastor Palmer Ruschke
