Dear Wounded in Spirit,

When I was asked to read his prayer by my daughter and see what I thought, I did so and then and only then did I read her response and others after the fact.  Naturally, I knew that SOMETHING was suppose to be WRONG with his prayer, or I wouldn't have been asked to read it in the first place, but I read it and reread it several times and for the life of me, I just couldn't figure out what it was that was supposed to be WRONG.  If fact, the more I read it, the more I liked it!  The more I thought just how powerful a prayer it was, and how it must have reached out and touched the hurting masses that had assembled there that day at Yankee stadium!  I was trying to imagine the pain and shock that most of them were in, and how Pastor Benke's prayer had them reach out to one another, total strangers to each other, and let the Holy Spirit work among them as he encouraged them to take each other's hand.  And when he shared with them what a tower of strength, and a "Mighty Fortress" our God is,  (how much more Lutheran) can you get?

When I was young, I had the good fortune of being exposed to both the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches before I attended LCMS from age 9 to now age 51.

The Lord knows there is already enough man's inhumanity to man without the Lutheran Church Missouri (Misery) Synod adding to it!

I would like to close with a quote from Pastor Benke's prayer. "And the strength we have is the power of love.  In the precious name of Jesus. Amen."
