I DEFINITELY DO NOT agree with the decision of some to suspend Dr. Benke. He (Dr. Benke) was a wonderful witness to our Lord and I feel if Christ himself had been in human form at that event He would have done the same thing Dr. Benke did--witness to his faith in the Triune God and pray for God's help for our people and our nation. I am very grateful that there are pastors such as Dr. Benke who will do what is necessary to witness to the world and I feel he is a fine example for us. I am a lay person within the LCMS.

We really need more individuals like Dr. Benke if we hope to grow as a synod and reach the people of this 20th century. He should not be punished for being Gospel oriented and for leading many in a prayer to our God. It is difficult to understand how people in our Christian fellowship would want to suspend someone who is striving to carry out the Great Commission. Dr. Beneke did nothing wrong and should not and does not deserve to be punished. The harshness of this entire matter seems to be in the hands of the devil and I think this is how much of Christendom will see it. What a HORRIBLE witness we as the LCMS are giving to the world with such a fiasco!!
