"Vigilante", "vindictive", "narrow-minded", "self-serving" are just some of the unsubstantiated ad hominems that a person employed by the LCMS (and paid in part by my church contributions) used to describe Rev. Schulz and his actions in the Benke scandal on this web page.

To top it off, the anonymous person also claimed: "Rev Wallace Schulz had a huge political agenda behind this action, and waited until he felt that he was "SAFELY" appointed as Lutheran Hour speaker before carrying it out."

Oh, and the evidence given to substantiate such slander?   According to the same LCMS employee, "Why else would he have waited so long to make a move like this?"

To put the best construction on this person's comments I will only presume this LCMS employee needs to have his doctor adjust his medications.

Based on the clear evidence in his Report, Rev. Schulz made a correct decision that the facts formed a sufficient basis that Rev. Benke violated Holy Scriptures, the Lutheran Confessions, and the Constitution of the Missouri Synod when he participated in the syncretic and unionistic interfaith prayer service at Yankee Stadium.  But as Yogi Berra said, "It's deja vu all over again".

"My participation in this service was a direct violation of the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions, and consequently, violation of the Constitution, Bylaws and doctrinal resolutions of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. I also recognize that my participation in this interfaith prayer service was a violation of my duties and responsibilities as an elected officer of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. While well-intended, what I did was wrong."  - David Benke, 10/22/98

So much for the "once-in-a-lifetime" excuse.
