Copy of Letter Asking LLL to Defend Schulz As Lutheran Hour Speaker |
Sirs, I applaud the decision of the LLL to not be diverted from your mission to share Christ's love with the nations during this time of crisis in the LC-MS. I hope and pray that this resolve to continue focusing on your mission and ministry to the unchurched will result in steadfastly but gently defending your excellent decision to name Dr. Wallace Schulz as the Lutheran Hour Radio Speaker. This will probably not be easy for you. As your "Crisis Statement" correctly noted, the difficult decision that Dr. Schulz was required to make in the Benke case has had a dramatic polarizing effect in our beloved synod. No matter what decision you make you will doubtless have critics, but those who would use funding as a weapon to force the removal a dynamic, faithful witness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, are not the supporters that you need in this time of crisis. I apologize for taking time from your mission and requiring you to use it to read this e-mail, but when I compare the bold witness consistently made by Dr. Schulz to our Triune God on the Lutheran Hour Radio program, with the equivocal watered down anything goes prayer offered up by Dr. Benke at the "Prayer for America" service, I felt compelled to write you. The Strength and Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you,
Maj. Matthew S. Mills
