In this whole affair, especially the defense of Rev. Benke's action and the criticism offered of Rev. Schulz's action, I would like to have pointed out to me, because I can't seem to find it, where is the Gospel in what Rev. Benke prayed that day in New York City. Yes He spoke the name, but where is the Gospel that is supposed to be attached to that name? Was it in the words "a Son", where so many other faiths also could see Jesus as "a" son and not "the" Son? How did what Rev. Benke pray proclaim the goodnews that sin is forgiven through Christ's death upon the cross? How did what Rev. Benke pray proclaim hope and help people get to heaven? I wish it was there. How I wish it was there. Whatever Rev. Benke did, He did not seize a golden opportunity to share the goodnews of Jesus. He named the name, but left it hanging without telling anyone who Jesus is or what He did. Disappointing.
